01 // Inauguration of the Python

So this module will be my first foray into the world of Python coding... and I'm waaaaay out of my comfort zone with this!! However, I do like a challenge, so let's do it!!

The first couple of classes saw me fumbling my way through the introduction to Maya side of things; it's worth noting here that for the duration of 3 years at college prior to University, I managed to just about entirely avoid using Maya, instead opting to use Cinema 4D for all my 3D modelling and animation needs. After vaguely figuring out the Maya interface enough to make things appear, move and scale, I dived into the Python script editor and found that I had a lot of learning ahead of me!

So, for the foreseeable future, I will be reading up on the fundamentals and basics of Python scripting in between classes. From my preliminary research, I have found Chad Vernon's website to be a valuable resource; offering a PDF entitled "Introduction to Python". As well as that, I will probably pick up a copy of "Python for Dummies". Studying these sources in conjunction with class lectures should propel me confidently into scripting. I hope.
